With the increasing rate of Omicron in Indonesia, 114 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting specimen examinations above the national average. Data as of Tuesday, February 14, 2023, shows the national average examination is 98.73 specimens per week.
The top five, starting from the highest number of specimens examined per week, are Cirebon City (932 specimens), Karawang (914 specimens), Kupang City (750 specimens), Kediri (737 specimens), and Mimika (725 specimens).
Cirebon City is ranked first. With a population of 322,250, the number of specimens examined there is 932 per week. The latest positive rate is 0.62 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Karawang. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of specimens examined is 914 per week. The positive rate in this region is 0.56 percent, down from the previous week's ratio.
Then, Kupang City recorded 750 specimens examined per week, Kediri 737 specimens per week, and Mimika 725 specimens per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 14 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report the daily number of specimens examined with higher figures than before. Meanwhile, 13 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week's examination.
Regions outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Kupang City, Mimika, and Palangkaraya City, with 750, 725, and 692 specimens examined, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the rate of coronavirus transmission.
