Anticipating the rising impact of the Omicron variant, 179 regencies/cities aggressively conducted weekly testing, exceeding the national average. Data from Wednesday, April 6, 2022, shows a national average of 100.91 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to each region's weekly target, then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting with the highest percentage of people tested per week, are Balikpapan City (975.93%), Mimika (932.14%), Badung (913.05%), Bontang City (852.75%), and Tarakan City (770.68%).
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 646,020, the weekly percentage of people tested is 975.93 percent. The latest positive rate is 0.94 percent, lower than the previous week.
Next is Mimika. With a population of 221,810, the weekly percentage of people tested is 932.14 percent in efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The positive rate is 0.53 percent, also lower than the previous week.
Following this, Badung recorded 913.05 percent, Bontang City (population 185,460) recorded 852.75 percent, and Tarakan City (population 267,270) recorded 770.68 percent of people tested weekly.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact across various regions, based on national COVID-19 data recapitulation, 319 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported higher weekly testing percentages than before. Meanwhile, 68 other regencies/cities recorded lower weekly testing percentages compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentages include Balikpapan City, Mimika, and Badung, with percentages of 975.93 percent, 932.14 percent, and 913.05 percent respectively.
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing COVID-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
