Unwilling to be caught off guard and continuing efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19, currently 141 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting Covid-19 tests exceeding the national average over the past week. Data as of Monday, November 14, 2022, shows a national average of 135.66 tests per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Bandung Barat, Demak, Kudus, Pekanbaru City, and Gresik, with respective weekly figures of 989, 971, 955, 943, and 905 tests per week.
Bandung Barat ranks first. The number of people tested in the last week was 989 per week. The latest positive rate is 14.76 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Demak. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested in the last week was 971 per week. The positive rate in this region is 12.05 percent, also higher than the previous week's percentage.
Then, Kudus recorded 955 tests per week, while the number of people tested in the last week in Pekanbaru was 943 per week, and Gresik recorded 905 tests per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 194 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting a higher number of daily tests in the last week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 141 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests in the last week compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of tests per week include Pekanbaru City, Batam City, and Deli Serdang, with 943, 895, and 830 tests per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
