The highest increase in confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in Central Java currently occurred in Purworejo, with four cases per 100,000 people per week as of Saturday, May 21, 2022. This figure is more than double the number of cases in the second-highest region.
The COVID-19 transmission situation in Purworejo does not appear to be improving. This is indicated by the number of cases this week, which is still higher than the previous week's figure of 1.95 cases per 100,000 people per week.
Surakarta is next in second place, recording a weekly confirmation rate of 1.54 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Compared to last week, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases this week is still higher, meaning there is no apparent improvement.
Rounding out the top five, in addition to the two regions above, are Kendal, Banyumas, and Magelang City. Each recorded weekly confirmations of 1.12 cases, 0.87 cases, and 0.82 cases, respectively.
According to the Ministry of Health's list, the next five regencies/cities in the top 10 are Sragen, Jepara, Batang, and Temanggung. These areas recorded an average increase of over 0.64 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
The good news from this province is that four regencies/cities recorded no increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants per week.
