The Yale Program on Climate Change Communication (YPCCC) released a study report titled "Climate Change and Energy in the Indonesian Mind" in November 2025.

Among other things, this study examines the views of Indonesian Muslims on the idea of using Islamic charity—zakat, infaq, waqf, and sadaqah—to support the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy.

The results show that the majority, or 79%, of Indonesian Muslim respondents support this idea. This figure consists of 48% who strongly support and 31% who somewhat support.

On the other hand, only 19% of respondents rejected the idea, with 12% somewhat rejecting and 7% strongly rejecting.

The survey involved 2,000 respondents aged 18 and above, spread across Indonesia.

Data collection was conducted from June 15 to July 17, 2025, through interviews, with a survey margin of error of +/-2.2% and a 95% confidence level.
