Jakpat's report reveals several factors considered by Indonesians when choosing to eat out.
Price is the most considered factor by the public, with 60% of respondents choosing it. This is followed by food taste (59%), service (44%), and cleanliness (43%).
Other respondents prioritize food portion size (43%), location (42%), ease of ordering (36%), menu variety (32%), and ambiance (32%).
Meanwhile, 31% choose to eat out to support local brands and MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises).
Jakpat also noted that 41% of respondents usually eat out for dinner and 37% for lunch.
"Women tend to eat out more often in the evening, while men show slightly higher activity late at night and in the morning," Jakpat wrote in its report, Consumer Insights: Local Food & Beverage Market.
The survey involved 955 respondents, which was then narrowed down to 769 respondents who frequently eat out. Respondents were spread across 8 urban areas on Java Island, namely Bogor, Depok, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surakarta, Semarang, Malang, and Surabaya.
Overall, respondents consisted of 55% men and 45% women. Based on age groups, the majority or 64% of respondents were aged 20-25 years, and 36% were aged 15-19 years.
The survey was conducted online via the Jakpat application from September 2-7, 2025, with a margin of error below 5%.
