The West Java Provincial Health Office recorded a hospital bed occupancy rate (BOR) of 90.32% for referral hospitals handling COVID-19 in West Java as of June 26, 2021. This figure exceeds the World Health Organization's (WHO) safe standard of 60%.
Purwakarta, Subang, and Karawang (Purwasuka) had the highest BOR in West Java at 92.34%, followed by the Bandung Raya area with a BOR of 92.31%.
The BOR in the Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi (Bodebek) area was 90.93%; in the Cirebon, Indramayu, Majalengka, and Kuningan (Ciayumajakuning) area, it was 84.14%.
The BOR in the East Priangan area (Tasikmalaya, Ciamis, and Pangandaran) was 83.77%, while in the West Priangan area (Sukabumi and Cianjur) it reached 82.95%.
This BOR data from the West Java Provincial Health Office differs from the Ministry of Health's data, which showed 89% on June 26, 2021. However, the BOR in West Java remains higher than the WHO standard.
The high BOR in West Java coincides with the large number of positive COVID-19 cases in the province. As of June 29, 2021, there were 373,074 confirmed COVID-19 cases in West Java.
To prevent an increase in the BOR in West Java, the spread of COVID-19 must be prevented. One way to do this is by diligently following the 3M health protocols: wearing a mask, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap.
