To curb the spread of Covid-19 in regions, currently 148 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting Covid-19 tests above the national average. Data from the week of October 16, 2022, shows a national average of 0.44 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest, are South Jakarta, Balikpapan, Central Jakarta, East Jakarta, and West Jakarta, with respective figures of 4.62, 4.3, 4.2, 3.16, and 3.07 tests per 1,000 people per week.
South Jakarta ranks first, with 4.62 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 6.39 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Balikpapan follows, with a population of 646,020. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 4.3 tests per 1,000 people per week were conducted. The positive rate is 2.52 percent, a decrease from the previous week.
Covid-19 testing in Central Jakarta recorded 4.2 per 1,000 people per week, East Jakarta 3.16, and West Jakarta 3.07.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact across various regions, based on national Covid data, 172 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than before. Meanwhile, 99 other regencies/cities recorded lower test numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (4.3 tests per 1,000 people per week), Mimika (2.69), and Badung (2.51).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
