A third dose of the vaccine, or booster, was a mandatory requirement for the 2022 Eid homecoming. Based on data from the Ministry of Health, 40.37 million doses of the Covid-19 booster vaccine had been administered to the Indonesian public by 6 PM on May 3, 2022.
This is out of a total target vaccination population of 208,265,720 people. This means that the booster vaccination coverage in the country has only reached 19.39%.
The highest number of booster vaccinations were given to vulnerable and general communities, totaling 27,774,016 doses. This is equivalent to 19.67% of the target of 141,211,181 doses.
Next, 6,061,985 booster vaccinations were given to public service personnel, or approximately 34.99% of the target of 17,327,167 doses. Booster vaccinations were also given to the elderly group, totaling 4,054,070 doses, or approximately 18.81% of the target of 21,553,118 doses.
Furthermore, 1,588,909 booster vaccine doses were administered to health workers, equivalent to 108.18% of the target of 1,468,764 doses. Booster vaccinations were also given to educators, reaching 542,567 doses.
Next, booster vaccinations for the 12-17 age group totaled 455,850 doses, or 1.71% of the target of 26,705,490 doses. Booster vaccinations for the community mutual assistance group totaled 435,735 doses, equivalent to 2.90% of the target.
Meanwhile, 1,652 booster vaccine doses were administered to the 6-11 age group, equivalent to 0.01% of the target of 26,400,300 doses.
Booster vaccinations are highly recommended for the general public, especially the elderly and vulnerable groups. This is useful for reducing the severity of infection and death from Covid-19.
Even after vaccination, the public is still urged to implement health protocols. This includes wearing masks, maintaining distance, and wearing masks.
