The Indonesian government, represented by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), has set the Hajj pilgrimage cost (Bipih) for 1443 H/2022 M (regular Hajj) at an average of Rp39.89 million. This was announced by Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas following a working meeting with Commission VIII of the DPR RI in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (13/4/2022).
“The Hajj pilgrimage cost (Bipih), or the cost directly paid by each pilgrim, has been agreed upon at an average of Rp39.89 million per pilgrim. This includes flight costs, part of the accommodation in Mecca and Medina, living costs, and visa fees,” said Yaqut, as reported by the Kemenag.go.id website.
Bipih is one component of the Hajj Pilgrimage Cost (BPIH). Other components of BPIH include health protocol costs, amounting to Rp808,620 per pilgrim, and costs sourced from the value of Hajj financial benefits, agreed upon at Rp41.05 million per pilgrim. Therefore, the total BPIH in 2022 is agreed upon at Rp81.75 million per pilgrim.
In 2020, the Government and the DPR agreed on an average Bipih of Rp35.2 million, meaning there is a difference with the 2022 Bipih determination. This difference is approximately Rp4.69 million. However, this difference is not borne by pilgrims whose Hajj pilgrimage was postponed in 1441 H/2020 M, but the additional cost is charged to the virtual account allocation.
The discussion of BPIH conducted by the Government with Commission VIII of the DPR used an assumption of 50% quota from a total of 221,000. The Indonesian Hajj quota in 1443 H/2022 M used as the basis for the discussion is 110,500 pilgrims, or 50% of the 2019 Hajj quota.
The details are: 101,660 pilgrims for regular Hajj and 8,840 pilgrims for special Hajj.
