The Indonesian Covid-19 Task Force recorded 35 regencies/cities in Indonesia with low mask-wearing compliance rates during the period of November 1-7, 2021. This is because these 35 regions had mask-wearing compliance rates below 60%.
In fact, five regions had a 0% mask-wearing compliance rate. These five are Tegal Regency, Batang Regency, East Seram Regency, Sorong Regency, and Payakumbuh City.
Meanwhile, 21 regions had mask-wearing compliance rates ranging from 61% to 75%. Furthermore, 94 regions had mask-wearing compliance rates ranging from 76% to 90%.
Nevertheless, the majority of regions in Indonesia have high mask-wearing compliance rates. A total of 195 regencies/cities recorded mask-wearing compliance rates ranging from 91% to 100%.
The Covid-19 Task Force monitored mask-wearing compliance among 5.89 million people in Indonesia. 900,700 points were monitored by officers, including airports, stations, malls, offices, schools, tourist attractions, places of worship, and restaurants/cafes.
The use of masks, especially double-layered masks or N95 type masks, is crucial in preventing the spread of the coronavirus. In addition, the public is urged to maintain physical distancing and wash their hands with soap.
