The highest increase in confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in Indonesia currently is in Teluk Bintuni, with 59.06 cases per 100,000 people per week as of Wednesday, December 29, 2021. This figure is more than double the number of cases in the next highest area.
Furthermore, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health, 307 regencies/cities in this province recorded no increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people per week.
However, despite being the highest, the number of COVID-19 transmissions in Teluk Bintuni has decreased compared to the previous week, which was at 78.3 cases per 100,000 people per week.
Next in second place is Sorong City, recording 21.17 weekly confirmed cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Compared to the previous week, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases this week is still higher, meaning there is no improvement yet.
Also in the top five, besides the two areas mentioned above, are Batam City, Kutai Barat, and Sukamara. Each recorded weekly confirmed cases of 12.25, seven, and six cases, respectively.
According to the Ministry of Health's list, the next five regencies/cities in the top 10 are North Buton, Tarakan City, Central Jakarta City, and Kupang City. These areas recorded an average increase of more than two cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Other information from today's daily COVID-19 statistics is that 108 regencies/cities in Indonesia recorded a higher increase compared to the previous week, and 179 other regencies/cities recorded lower weekly confirmed cases than the previous week.
Meanwhile, according to the Ministry of Health, yesterday's COVID-19 data showed that 307 regencies/cities in Indonesia recorded no confirmed COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people per week.
