Data as of Saturday, October 1, 2022, shows the national average testing rate at 17.23 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to the weekly target of each region, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Balikpapan City, Mimika, Metro City, Surakarta City, and Semarang City, with percentages of 386.34 percent, 283.04 percent, 240 percent, 236.87 percent, and 218.37 percent, respectively.
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 646,020, the weekly testing percentage is recorded at 386.34 percent. The latest positive rate is 3.5 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Mimika. The population in this region is recorded at 221,810. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly testing percentage is 283.04 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 4.42 percent, which has also decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Then, Metro City recorded 240 percent testing, Surakarta City with a population of 519,800, recorded a weekly testing percentage of 236.87 percent, and Semarang City recorded a weekly testing percentage of 218.37 percent.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 190 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report a higher weekly testing percentage than before. Meanwhile, 154 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly testing percentage compared to the previous week's testing.
Areas outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentages include Balikpapan City, Mimika, and Metro City, with weekly testing percentages of 386.34 percent, 283.04 percent, and 240 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission in some areas has decreased, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
