Unwilling to be caught off guard and continuously striving to curb the spread of Covid-19, currently 118 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting weekly testing exceeding the national average. Data from the week of June 26, 2022, shows the national average testing rate at 59.97 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to each region's weekly target, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest, are South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, Balikpapan, Badung, and East Jakarta, with ratios of 904.46 percent, 814.72 percent, 596.58 percent, 560.85 percent, and 559.11 percent, respectively.
South Jakarta ranks first. The weekly percentage of people tested there is recorded at 904.46 percent. The latest positive rate is 7.93 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Central Jakarta. The population of this region is recorded at 913,720 people. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly percentage of people tested is 814.72 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 6.49 percent, or higher than the previous week's percentage.
Then, Balikpapan with a testing rate of 596.58 percent; Badung, with a population of 727,950 people, has a weekly testing percentage of 560.85 percent; and East Jakarta has a weekly testing percentage of 559.11 percent.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 271 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting higher weekly testing percentages than before. Meanwhile, 105 other regencies/cities recorded lower weekly testing percentages compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentage ratios include Balikpapan, Badung, and Teluk Wondama, with weekly testing percentages of 596.58 percent, 560.85 percent, and 497.14 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
