To curb the spread of COVID-19 in regions, currently 135 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting COVID-19 tests above the national average. Data from the week of November 20, 2022, shows a national average of 0.48 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per 1,000 people per week, are Badung (7.07 people), South Jakarta (6.43 people), Central Jakarta (6.31 people), West Jakarta (4.56 people), and East Jakarta (4.41 people).
Badung ranks first. With a population of 727,950, the number of people tested there is 7.07 per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 8.18 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is South Jakarta. In an effort to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of people tested is 6.43 per 1,000 people per week. The positive rate in this region is 26.64 percent, an increase compared to the previous week's ratio.
Then, Central Jakarta recorded 6.31 tests per 1,000 people per week; West Jakarta recorded 4.56 tests per 1,000 people per week; and East Jakarta recorded 4.41 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national COVID data, there are 143 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting a higher daily number of people tested than before. Meanwhile, 127 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested include Badung, Balikpapan, and Mimika, with 7.07, 4.21, and 2.21 people tested per 1,000 respectively.
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing COVID-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
