Based on national Covid-19 data, 148 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data as of Thursday, August 18, 2022, shows a national average of 0.7 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, South Tangerang, West Jakarta, and Badung, with 8.2, 7.61, 5.35, 4.97, and 4.89 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
South Jakarta ranks first, with 8.2 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 14.66 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 7.61 tests per 1,000 people per week were conducted. The positive rate is 15.85 percent, also down from the previous week.
Furthermore, West Jakarta recorded 4.97 tests per 1,000 people per week, and Badung recorded 4.89 tests per 1,000 people per week. South Tangerang recorded 5.35 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on national Covid-19 data, 66 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than before. Meanwhile, 284 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, some areas with the highest number of tests include Badung (4.89 tests per 1,000 people per week), Balikpapan (4.41 tests per 1,000 people per week), and Mimika (3.35 tests per 1,000 people per week).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
