Average Length of Schooling in Meranti Islands Regency Rises to 8.12 Years

The average length of schooling (RLS) for residents aged 25 years and above in Meranti Islands, Riau, reached 8.12 years in 2024.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the RLS of the population in the region is below the average for Riau Province, which reached 9.43 years in 2024.

The RLS of Meranti Islands residents increased by 0.13 years (1.63%) compared to the previous year, which was 7.99 years. Meanwhile, in the last five years, the RLS has increased by 0.61 years (8.12%).

This RLS indicates that the average resident of Meranti Islands only attends school up to the 8th grade. However, this RLS is still below the national average RLS of 8.85 years in 2024.

Compared to 11 other regencies/cities in Riau Province, Meranti Islands' RLS is in 11th position. Other regions in the province with the highest RLS are Pekanbaru City (11.96 years), while the lowest RLS is Indragiri Hilir Regency (7.32 years).
