To curb the spread of Covid-19 in regions, 138 regencies/cities are currently aggressively conducting specimen examinations exceeding the national average. Data as of Friday, October 28, 2022, shows the national average examination is 153.04 specimens per week.
The top five, starting from the highest number of specimens examined per week, are Magetan (995 specimens), Pemalang (971 specimens), Pasuruan (966 specimens), Cilacap (953 specimens), and Padang City (942 specimens).
Magetan ranks first. With a population of 637,110, the number of specimens examined there is recorded at 995 per week. The latest positive rate is 5.19 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Pemalang. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of specimens examined is 971 per week. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 12.66 percent, also up from the previous week's percentage.
Then, Pasuruan recorded 966 specimens examined per week, Cilacap recorded 953 specimens per week, and Padang City recorded 942 specimens per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 142 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting a higher daily number of specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 136 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Regions outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Padang City, Mataram City, and Kubu Raya, with 942, 938, and 935 specimens examined, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
