To curb the spread of COVID-19 in regions, 141 regencies/cities have aggressively conducted COVID-19 tests in the last week, exceeding the national average. Data as of Friday, September 23, 2022, shows a national average of 141.48 tests per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Tasikmalaya, Malang, West Bandung, Pekanbaru City, and Kudus, with weekly test numbers of 998, 963, 949, 923, and 899 respectively.
Tasikmalaya ranks first, with 998 tests conducted last week. The latest positive rate is 0.8 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Malang. In an effort to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic, 963 tests were conducted last week. The positive rate in this region is 6.96 percent, a decrease from the previous week.
Furthermore, 949 tests were conducted in West Bandung, 923 in Pekanbaru City, and 899 in Kudus.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on national COVID-19 data recapitulation, 176 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests last week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 173 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests last week compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, regions with the highest number of tests last week include Pekanbaru City, Bandar Lampung City, and Samarinda City, with 923, 828, and 778 tests respectively.
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing COVID-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
