Unwilling to be caught off guard and continuing efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19, currently 150 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting specimen examinations above the national average. Data for the week of July 17, 2022, shows a national average of 164.42 specimens per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Mojokerto, Kudus, Sorong City, Cilacap, and Tasikmalaya City, with weekly specimen numbers of 989, 980, 977, 967, and 961 specimens respectively.
Mojokerto is ranked first. The number of specimens examined there is recorded at 989 per week. The latest positive rate is 1.23 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Kudus. The population of this region is recorded at 893,350. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of specimens examined is 980 per week. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 0.94 percent, or higher than the previous week's ratio.
Then, Sorong City, with a population of 282,370, recorded 977 specimens examined per week; Cilacap recorded 967 specimens per week; and Tasikmalaya City recorded 961 specimens per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 275 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report a higher daily number of specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 43 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Sorong City, Bontang City, and East Lombok, with 977, 939, and 908 specimens examined respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission in some areas has decreased, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
