To curb the spread of Covid-19 in regions, currently 161 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting weekly suspect testing percentages above the national average. Data as of Thursday, November 3, 2022, shows the national average testing rate at 12.92 percent. This suspect testing data is calculated based on the number of suspected individuals and close contacts compared to the number of people tested in each region, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Simalungun, Mandailing Natal, Tasikmalaya, Banggai Laut, and Balangan, with ratios of 93.7 percent, 83.25 percent, 79.47 percent, 76.32 percent, and 74.5 percent respectively.
Simalungun ranks first. With a population of 877,710, the weekly suspect testing percentage is recorded at 93.7 percent. The latest positive rate is 8.23 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Mandailing Natal. The population in this region is recorded at 460,360. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly suspect testing percentage is 83.25 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 0.51 percent, also higher than the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, Tasikmalaya recorded 79.47 percent testing; Banggai Laut, with a population of 78,681, recorded 76.32 percent weekly suspect testing; and Balangan recorded 74.5 percent weekly suspect testing.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid data recapitulation, there are 215 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting higher daily weekly suspect testing percentages than before. Meanwhile, 132 other regencies/cities recorded lower weekly suspect testing percentages compared to the previous week.
Regions outside Java with the highest weekly suspect testing percentages include Simalungun, Mandailing Natal, and Banggai Laut, with weekly suspect testing percentages of 93.7 percent, 83.25 percent, and 76.32 percent respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
