The health condition of a population is one of the indicators of the population's welfare in a region. Improved population health can indicate improved community welfare in a region.
The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) recorded that almost half, or 42.15%, of the population of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) experienced health complaints during the last month. This figure is higher than the national average of 27.23%. It is also the highest compared to other provinces.
The provinces with the next highest percentage of residents reporting health complaints are South Kalimantan at 32.02%, followed by Gorontalo at 31.06%, Yogyakarta Special Region at 30.20%, and East Nusa Tenggara at 30.14%.
Central Java also reported a high percentage of residents with health complaints at 29.81%, followed by West Java at 29.74%, East Java at 28.55%, and Lampung and Banten at 28.44% and 28.41% respectively.
Health complaints refer to a person experiencing physical or mental health problems, whether due to common ailments such as fever, colds, diarrhea, dizziness, headaches, or acute and chronic illnesses (even if no complaints were experienced during the last month), accidents, crime, or other complaints.
