Variety of Agricultural Problems in Indonesia According to Citizens

Litbang Kompas surveyed the views of Indonesian citizens on agricultural sector issues that need to be resolved immediately.

The results show that the majority of citizens consider high staple food prices to be the main problem. This was stated by 37% of respondents.

Respondents also highlighted issues of corruption (19%), decreasing agricultural land (17.7%), quality of staple foods (15.5%), and irrigation problems (13.1%).

There are also issues of limited human resources (HR) in the agricultural sector (12.9%), difficulty in obtaining staple foods (12.5%), expensive and limited fertilizer prices (9.4%), and others (6.8%).

"Thus, the crucial issues related to food commodities currently are at least linked to increasingly expensive food prices and the constrained availability of several production facilities," wrote Litbang Kompas in its report, Thursday (23/10/2025).

This Litbang Kompas survey involved 1,200 respondents randomly selected using a stratified systematic sampling method across 38 provinces in Indonesia.

Data collection was conducted from July 24 to August 1, 2025, through face-to-face interviews. The survey's margin of error was 2.8% and the confidence level was 95%, under conditions of simple random sampling.
