Indonesia's Top Export Destinations for Natural Rubber in 2023

According to a report by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), Indonesia imported 1.75 million tons of natural rubber in 2024, valued at US$2.477 million.

Volume decreased by 13.84% year-on-year (yoy) from the previous year, which saw exports reach 2.03 million tons.

Japan was the main destination for Indonesian natural rubber exports in 2024, with a volume of 400,395 tons, or 22.83% of total national exports.

Indonesia also exported significant amounts of natural rubber to countries in Asia, Europe, and Africa.

The following is a list of the top 10 export destinations for Indonesian natural rubber in 2023:

1. Japan: 400,395 tons
2. United States: 379,788 tons
3. China: 215,570 tons
4. India: 144,146 tons
5. South Korea: 88,032 tons
6. Turkey: 65,794 tons
7. Canada: 60,705 tons
8. Brazil: 37,378 tons
9. Mexico: 35,715 tons
10. Germany: 33,560 tons

Based on HS codes, the largest volume of Indonesian natural rubber exports consisted of technically specified natural rubber (TNSR) 20 (HS 40012220), accounting for 91.25% of total natural rubber exports.

This was followed by exports of TNSR 10 (HS 40012210) at 6.01%; natural rubber in smoked sheets (RSS) grade 1 (HS 40012110) at 2.13%; and other types at 0.61%.
