The Strait of Hormuz is an important route for the trade of various global commodities.

Not only energy commodities such as oil and natural gas, but this strait is also commonly used for the shipment of fertilizers.

According to data from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), in 2024, there were 16 million tons of fertilizers, or one-third of the total global fertilizer trade via sea routes, shipped through the Strait of Hormuz.
