The price of bulk cooking oil in several provinces has decreased.
This occurred a few days after President Jokowi first announced plans to ban the export of cooking oil and its raw materials on Friday, April 22, 2022.
Here are the 10 provinces with the largest decrease in bulk cooking oil prices during the period of April 22-27, 2022:
* West Sulawesi: down Rp2,250 to Rp21,750/kg
* Papua: down Rp2,250 to Rp20,500/kg

Amidst this situation, President Jokowi has asked the palm oil industry to prioritize domestic needs.
“The volume of cooking oil raw materials that we produce and export is far greater than domestic needs; there is still a very large remaining capacity. If we all want to and intend to prioritize meeting the needs of the people, domestic needs can easily be met,” said Jokowi in his press release on Wednesday (27/4/2022).
President Jokowi emphasized that the export ban on cooking oil and its raw materials is effective starting April 28, 2022, until further notice.
“This ban does have negative impacts, potentially reducing production and farmers’ harvests that are not absorbed. However, the aim of this policy is to increase domestic supply until supply is abundant,” said Jokowi.
