How Long is the National Road Network in Papua?

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the length of roads in Papua reached 21,122.76 km in 2020. Of this total, 2,636.8 km are national roads, under the authority of the central government.

The details are as follows: 1,554.1 km have asphalt surfaces, 395.3 km have gravel surfaces, and 1.9 km have rigid/concrete surfaces.

There are 2,536.26 km of provincial roads, under the authority of the Papua Provincial Government. The details are: 1,150.1 km with asphalt surfaces, 141.2 km with rigid/concrete surfaces, 955.5 km with telford/gravel surfaces, and 289.4 km with earth/unpaved surfaces.

There are also 15,949.7 km of regency/city roads in Papua, under the authority of the regency/city governments. The details are: 3,034.9 km with asphalt surfaces, 209.3 km with rigid/concrete surfaces, 3,857.3 km with telford/gravel surfaces, and 8,848.2 km with earth/unpaved surfaces.

The longest road in Papua is in Merauke, reaching 2,085.2 km. This is followed by Jayapura with 1,194.92 km and Mappi with 1,170.25 km. Meanwhile, the regency/city with the shortest road is Dogiyai, with only 275 km. Additionally, Puncak has only 392 km of roads, and Mamberamo Tengah has only 335.1 km.
