PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), or KAI, reported that the Jabodebek LRT had served 28,925 passengers in its first two days of operation since its inauguration by President Joko Widodo on Monday, August 28, 2023.
The details show that 5,220 passengers used the LRT on Monday, August 28, 2023, while ridership surged to 23,705 passengers on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.
PT KAI also noted that the stations with the highest passenger volume over these two days were Dukuh Atas, Cawang, and Kuningan stations.
"KAI appreciates the high public interest in the Jabodebek LRT mass transportation. This will certainly further encourage KAI and stakeholders to continue improving the Jabodebek LRT service in various aspects," said KAI VP of Public Relations, Joni Martinus, in his official statement on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
Currently, the Jabodebek LRT operates 158 trips daily using 12 train sets, with a capacity of 40,000-45,000 passengers per day. PT KAI aims to increase this to 27 train sets, serving 137,000 passengers daily.
On the other hand, PT KAI acknowledged various disruptions in the Jabodebek LRT's operation on its third day, including schedule delays, malfunctioning train doors, power outages, and air conditioner (AC) failures.
"KAI offers its sincerest apologies to the public. KAI is committed to continuously improving and enhancing its services," concluded Joni.
