The Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI) reported domestic motorcycle sales volume in July 2023 reached 475,428 units. This figure is down 3.71% month-to-month (mtm) compared to June 2023, which saw sales of 493,763 units.
However, compared to July 2022, which saw sales of 326,452 units, July 2023's achievement surged by 45.63% year-on-year (yoy).
In contrast, export volume reached 53,443 units in July 2023. This figure increased by 7.03% month-on-month (mom), while it decreased by 25.18% year-on-year (yoy).
By type, scooter motorcycle sales still contributed the most, both in domestic and export sales. Scooter sales accounted for 89.53% of total domestic sales and 52.98% of total exports in July 2023.
Next, underbone motorcycles contributed 5.26% to total domestic sales and 22.56% to total exports. On the other hand, sport motorcycles contributed 5.21% to domestic sales and 24.46% to exports.
Cumulatively, domestic motorcycle sales from January to July 2023 reached 3,677,358 units, an increase of approximately 42.91% compared to the January-July 2022 period (cumulative-to-cumulative/ctc) which amounted to 2,573,079 units.
Meanwhile, total Indonesian motorcycle exports from January to July 2023 reached 322,165 units, down 22.92% (ctc).
