The international electric car racing event, Formula E, will be held in Jakarta this Saturday (June 4th, 2022). This is the ninth Formula E race in the 2021/2022 season.
Previously, Formula E held eight races in five countries: Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Italy, Monaco, and Germany.
As of May 2022, the provisional Formula E standings are led by the Mercedes-EQ factory team, the electric car brand produced by Mercedes-Benz.
Before the Jakarta Formula E begins, Mercedes-EQ has earned 40 points this season, the highest among other factory teams.
The second position in the provisional standings is occupied by the Rokit Venturi factory team, with a total of 34 points.
Meanwhile, Envision Racing and DS Techeetah are in third place, each with 10 points.
Several factory teams have yet to score any points this season, namely Nissan E.Dams, Nio 333, Dragon Penske, and Avalanche Andretti.
Jake Dennis, a Formula E driver from the Avalanche Andretti team, believes that tomorrow's race in Jakarta will be challenging due to weather conditions.
"With the hot (Jakarta) temperatures and the potential for rain, this will be a difficult race to manage the battery temperature (of the car)," said Jake in a FIA Formula E press release on Friday (June 3rd, 2022).
Edoardo Mortara, a driver from the Rokit Venturi factory team, expressed a similar sentiment.
"This will be a tough race. But for the spectators, it will be exciting. I hope they are entertained watching us race in difficult conditions," said Edoardo.
