According to a Jakpat survey in 2025, more than half of Indonesian citizens who buy motorcycles purchase them in cash.
This payment method is also the most favored across three generations: Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z, with percentages of 60%, 54%, and 50% respectively.
Aside from cash, 22% of Gen X chose to buy motorcycles through conventional credit/leasing. This was the second-highest choice for that generation.
A similar trend applies to Millennials, with 24% of them opting for conventional credit/leasing when purchasing a motorcycle.
However, Gen Z differs. Besides cash, the second most popular method for buying a motorcycle is installments from a dealer, with a percentage of 25%.
