Number of Train Passengers in Indonesia Increased in June 2025

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the number of train passengers in Indonesia reached 45.61 million in June 2025.

This figure includes train passengers on Java and non-Java islands (Sumatra and Sulawesi), including airport trains, MRT, LRT, and the Whoosh high-speed rail.

The number of national train passengers in June 2025 increased by 1.17% compared to the previous month (month-to-month/mtm), and is the highest achievement since the beginning of the year.

Here is a breakdown of the number and growth of train passengers in Indonesia in June 2025 by segment:

• Jabodetabek commuter trains: 28.2 million passengers, down 1.25% (mtm)
• Trains in Java outside Jabodetabek: 9 million passengers, up 9.88% (mtm)
• Trains in non-Java regions: 655,000 passengers, up 3.23% (mtm)
• Airport trains: 773,300 passengers, up 1.20% (mtm)
• MRT trains: 3.6 million passengers, down 0.64% (mtm)
• LRT trains: 2.81 million passengers, up 1.59% (mtm)
• Whoosh high-speed rail: 555,000 passengers, up 4.90% (mtm)

Cumulatively, the number of train passengers in Indonesia from January to June 2025 reached 261.81 million. The volume grew by 9.27% from the same period last year (cumulative-to-cumulative/ctc). Increases occurred across all train lines.
