PT Blue Bird Tbk plans to increase the use of electric vehicles for its transportation services.
By the end of this year, the company plans to add 50 new electric vehicle units for operation in Jakarta and Bali, with a capital expenditure of approximately Rp650 million per electric vehicle.
"The investment is indeed expensive, four times more than conventional cars," said Blue Bird's Deputy President Director Adrianto Djokosoetono, as quoted by *Bisnis Indonesia*, Wednesday (13/7/2022).
Until July 2022, Blue Bird stated that it had 60 electric vehicle units. The details are 30 units for taxis and 30 units for rentals.
With the planned addition of new electric vehicles, the total number of Blue Bird's electric fleet will reach 110 units by the end of 2022.
Blue Bird's Deputy President Director Adrianto Djokosoetono said that the use of electric vehicles aims to reduce air pollution and support Indonesia's G20 Presidency, which prioritizes environmental sustainability.
"With our presence (Blue Bird electric vehicles) in Jakarta and Bali, electric vehicles help with the perception that Indonesia is also ready," he said.
