Based on the forest and land fire monitoring system SiPongi from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring over the last 24 hours recorded 15,563 hotspots detected across Indonesia. This hotspot count increased by 982 points compared to the previous period.

Data was obtained from Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Friday (4/9/2026) at 11.36 WIB. Of the total detected hotspots: 1,157 have high confidence level, 13,863 medium confidence, and 543 low confidence.

Hotspot confidence is divided into 3 tiers: low (0-29), medium (30-79), high (80-100). Higher hotspot confidence indicates greater probability of forest and land fires occurring in that area.

The highest number of hotspots were detected in Central Kalimantan with 4,894 points, followed by West Kalimantan (3,684 points) in second place, then South Sumatra with 1,624 points.

East Kalimantan recorded 712 hotspots, South Papua had 523, while Maluku and South Kalimantan registered 464 and 453 detected hotspots respectively.

A hotspot is a coordinate point showing higher surface temperature than surrounding areas – it is not a count of fire incidents. However, clustered high hotspot numbers indicate active forest and land fires. Satellite-detected hotspot data remains the most effective method for monitoring fires over large geographic areas.
