Indonesia's Main Exports to the United Arab Emirates in 2023

Indonesia recorded exports to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) worth US$2.65 billion as of December 2023. This figure represents a 15.16% increase compared to the previous year's exports, which were recorded at US$2.3 billion.

Indonesia's trade record with the UAE shows an upward trend in exports over the past 10 years. 2023 marks a historic high with the highest export value ever recorded.

Of the 97 products (two-digit HS codes) exported to the UAE, 52 products were worth more than one billion dollars. Furthermore, according to Trademap data, there are 89 main Indonesian products exported annually to this country. In other words, these products are Indonesia's mainstay exports to the UAE. The rest are mostly products also exported to other countries.

The following is a list of the top five products exported by Indonesia to the UAE. This list is ordered from highest to lowest transaction value.

1. Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones, precious metals, clad metals



Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones, precious metals, clad metals, under HS code 71, are the top export to the UAE. Indonesia exported US$589.28 million worth of these products. This represents an increase compared to the previous period, which recorded US$364.44 million.


2. Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling-stock, and parts and accessories



Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling-stock, and parts and accessories (HS code 87). Indonesia exported US$382.68 million worth to the UAE.


3. Animal, vegetable or microbial fats and oils and their cleavage products



Indonesia also exported a significant amount of Animal, vegetable or microbial fats and oils and their cleavage products to the UAE. Exports in 2023 reached US$255.56 million, lower than the previous period's US$292.75 million. The UAE remains the largest export destination for these products. Other top five export destinations include Ship chandlers and bunkers, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Sint Maarten (Netherlands Antilles), and Slovakia.


4. Paper and paperboard



Under HS code 48, Paper and paperboard are categorized together with articles of pulp, paper or paperboard. Indonesia exported US$190.84 million, up from US$172.47 million in the previous period. Trademap data shows Indonesia exports paper and paperboard to four countries, with the UAE being the largest destination. Other top five destinations include the United States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Italy.


5. Electrical machinery and equipment and parts



Under HS code 85, Electrical machinery and equipment and parts are categorized together with sound recording and reproducing apparatus, television receivers. Indonesia exported US$155.8 million worth to the UAE. Trademap data shows Indonesia exports electrical machinery and equipment and parts to four countries, with the UAE being the largest destination. Other top five destinations include China, the United States, Hong Kong, China, Germany, and Singapore.
