The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) notes that Indonesia's imports of agricultural consumer products from various countries reached US$8.57 billion in 2024.
Of this amount, the highest contribution came from globally imported dairy products, totaling US$1.8 billion in 2024. Despite being the highest, this import value decreased by 7.03% (year-on-year/yoy) from 2023, which was US$1.94 billion.
Second was fresh fruit, at US$1.5 billion in 2024. This import value increased by 15.21% (yoy) from 2023, which was US$1.3 billion.
Third was fresh vegetables, at US$902.6 million in 2024. This increased by 9.59% (yoy) from 2023, which was US$823.6 million.
The product with the lowest import value on this list was wine and related goods, at US$13.75 million. Other agricultural consumer products totaled US$330.18 million.
The USDA states that Indonesia's agricultural imports increased by 47% in value since 2019, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8%.
"Agricultural imports experienced a significant surge between 2019 and 2024, with sugarcane recording a CAGR of 17% and rice sharply increasing with a CAGR of 258%," wrote the USDA, as quoted on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
The USDA also revealed that the United States (US) is the fourth largest supplier of agricultural products to Indonesia, with a 10% market share. Specifically for agricultural consumer products, imports from the US amounted to US$536.15 million in 2024, equivalent to 6% of the total.
The two main US agricultural export products to Indonesia are soybeans and dairy products, which account for 50% of total shipments.
The USDA mentions that Brazil has been the largest supplier of imported agricultural products to Indonesia since 2023, surpassing Australia, mainly due to a large surge in Brazilian sugarcane exports to Indonesia.
