Indonesia's Mineral Commodity Production Capacity Plan for 2024

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has received 731 applications for the 2024-2026 Work and Budget Plans (RKAB) from mineral companies as of March 18, 2024. These plans detail the production capacity of each commodity.

The Acting Director General of Minerals and Coal at the Ministry of ESDM, Bambang Suswantono, stated that his office has only processed 201 applications, or 27.49% of the total RKAB applications received at the beginning of this year.

“Currently, 201 RKAB applications have been processed, with 191 approvals and 10 rejections,” said Bambang in a meeting with Commission VII of the DPR RI on Tuesday (March 19, 2024).

Of the approved RKAB applications in 2024, the capacity for each commodity is as follows:

* Nickel: 107 business entities with a capacity of 152,619,780.56 tons
* Copper: 2 business entities with a capacity of 99,241,942 tons
* Iron concentrate: 23 business entities with a capacity of 6,459,701 tons
* Bauxite: 19 business entities with a capacity of 15,878,787 tons
* Galena ore: 1 business entity with a capacity of 242,310 tons
* Tin: 12 business entities with a capacity of 44,481.63 tons
* Silver: 19 business entities with a capacity of 122.50 tons
* Gold: 19 business entities with a capacity of 20.71 tons.

Previously, Minister of ESDM Arifin Tasrif stated that many RKABs from mineral and coal mining companies are yet to be approved.

“Currently, the approved RKABs represent more than 10% of 700 companies, with more coal companies than mineral companies,” said Arifin in his statement, as reported by *Katadata* on Friday (February 16, 2024).

According to him, two main reasons lead to the rejection of RKABs by the Ministry of ESDM. First, compliance with non-tax state revenue (PNBB) obligations. Second, the absence of community development programs in the applications submitted by mineral and coal companies.
