According to the report by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesia's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Development Index score reached 6.02 out of 10 points in 2024, falling into the "medium" category.
However, this index is not evenly distributed when viewed at the provincial level.
In 2024, the highest ICT Development Index was in Jakarta, at 7.88 out of 10 points, categorized as "high".
Meanwhile, the lowest ICT Development Index was in Papua, at only 3.56 out of 10 points, categorized as "low".
"This shows that the main challenges in the eastern regions and some other areas are limited infrastructure availability, low service affordability, and still limited digital literacy among the public," said BPS in its report.

This index represents the development of ICT on a scale of 0-10 points. The higher the index value, the better the assumed condition.
Below is the categorization of ICT development index scores from BPS:
* Score 0 to 2.50: very low
* Score 2.51 to 5: low
* Score 5.01 to 7.50: medium
* Score 7.51 to 10: high.
