The popularity of video-on-demand (VoD) applications has surged since the Covid-19 pandemic. This has driven users to subscribe to video streaming applications.

A Populix survey revealed several reasons why people choose to subscribe to VoD services. The primary reason, cited by 84% of respondents, is the ability to watch videos or movies anytime.

The next reason, cited by 77%, was the diverse selection of films. Furthermore, 74% of respondents stated they sought entertainment.

Additionally, 68% of respondents mentioned that VoD offers the latest films. Another 63% said that VoD applications are easier to use.

Other reasons included: no interruptions from ads (57%), affordable subscription costs (47%), and continued concerns about going to cinemas (13%).

The survey also indicated that upper-middle and upper-class Indonesians are willing to spend more than Rp250,000 per month on VoD subscriptions. However, the majority of respondents stated that they spend between Rp100,000 and Rp250,000 on VoD subscriptions.

This survey involved 1,000 respondents from Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Semarang, Medan, and other Indonesian cities. The online survey was conducted from May 20-25, 2022.
