There are four state-owned enterprises (SOEs) banks in Indonesia: Bank Mandiri, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), and Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN).
Of these, the BUMN bank with the highest state ownership is BNI.
Based on data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), as of June 23, 2023, the Republic of Indonesia holds 60% of BNI's shares, with a volume of approximately 11.2 billion shares.
The state's shareholding in BTN also reaches 60%, with a volume of approximately 8.4 billion shares.
Meanwhile, as of June 23, 2023, the state only holds 53.19% of BRI's shares, with a volume of approximately 80.6 billion shares.
Furthermore, the state's shareholding in Bank Mandiri is 52%, with a volume of approximately 48.5 billion shares.
Although the state's share percentage in BRI and Bank Mandiri is smaller, the Indonesian government receives significant contributions from these two banks.
According to the report of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), in the 2022 fiscal year, BRI contributed approximately Rp 14 trillion in dividends to the government, the largest among other SOEs.
Bank Mandiri was the second-largest dividend payer to the government, with approximately Rp 8.8 trillion in the same period.
