Many people calculate their budget for overseas holidays. One important aspect to prepare is choosing the right destination.
Europe, for example, is a popular holiday destination and a dream travel spot for many. This continent comprises many countries, each with its own unique characteristics. So, how should one choose a holiday destination in Europe?
One indicator is the number of visitors a country receives. The European Travel Commission (ETC), citing data from Tourism Economics, tracks the number of visits to European countries.
France received the most visitors in 2021, with 14.7% of total intra-European visits.
Spain was second with 11.1%, followed by Italy with 9.7%.
Turkey was fourth with 7.1%, and Germany fifth with 3.9%.
Ukraine had the lowest percentage of visits, at 1.7%.
It should be noted that these figures represent intra-European visits, meaning visits from within Europe. The ETC did not provide the total number of visits and did not classify visits by tourists or ordinary individuals.
