Data.ai, a mobile and app data analytics company, released a report, *The State of Mobile 2024 Report*, categorizing the most downloaded digital finance applications by Indonesian smartphone and tablet users.

Loan applications were the most downloaded digital financial applications throughout 2023. The breakdown is as follows: 59.66 million downloads in Q1, 54.72 million in Q2, 55.26 million in Q3, and 52.31 million in Q4.

Over the past four years, downloads of loan applications surged from the end of 2021 into 2022. The difference between Q1 2022 (34.69 million) and Q2 2022 (44.55 million) was nearly 10 million downloads.

The number of loan application downloads significantly outpaced other categories, such as digital wallets and payments, which ranked second.

The breakdown for digital wallets and payments is as follows: 24.30 million downloads in Q1, 27.22 million in Q2, 25.79 million in Q3, and 30.03 million in Q4.

Mobile banking applications ranked third, with 20.77 million downloads in Q1, 20.66 million in Q2, 19.91 million in Q3, and 21.3 million in Q4.

This was followed by investment and crypto trading applications, as shown in the graph.

The research team noted that while loan applications showed the strongest adoption, their growth was not as significant as that of mobile banking and digital wallets/payments, which showed a positive trend in the final quarter of 2023.

Besides Indonesia, loan applications also thrived in other developing countries such as India and Mexico.
