Populix conducted a survey on the behavior of Indonesian users of online dating apps. One of the questions asked was how much they spend on premium subscriptions.
The results show that the majority, or 55%, of respondents allocate less than Rp100,000 (approximately US$6.50) per month for premium online dating services.
Furthermore, 37% of respondents spend between Rp100,000 and Rp200,000 (approximately US$6.50 - US$13) per month on similar subscriptions. Another 7% spend Rp200,000-Rp300,000 (approximately US$13 - US$19.50) per month.
Additionally, 1% of respondents spend more than Rp300,000 (approximately US$19.50) per month on premium features in online dating apps.
"This indicates users' preference for the quality of their online dating experience," wrote Populix in its report titled *Indonesian Usage Behavior and Online Security on Dating Apps*.
The survey also recorded respondents' expectations when subscribing to premium online dating apps.
A majority, or 75%, of respondents hope to have a better profile to increase credibility and trust from other users.
Then, 67% want access to complete features, 66% seek security guarantees, and 57% hope to increase their chances of finding a committed dating partner.
This survey was conducted from January 15-22, 2024, with 1,165 respondents in Indonesia, then narrowed down to 405 respondents who use and subscribe to premium online dating apps.
The majority of respondents were from Java (80%), followed by Sumatra (13%), and other islands (8%). Respondents were predominantly aged 17-25 years (44%) and 26-35 years (38%).
