Many urban residents in Indonesia use artificial intelligence (AI) technology to search for information.
This is evident from the Indonesia AI Report 2025 survey report released by Kumparan.
Kumparan surveyed 1,000 respondents, comprising 50% Gen Z (aged 18-28 years) and 50% Millennials (aged 29-44 years).
As many as 50% of respondents were from Jabodetabek, and the remaining 50% were spread across other cities, namely Surabaya, Medan, Makassar, Denpasar, and Balikpapan.
Respondents had a minimum education level of high school/vocational school up to a master's degree, with a gender proportion of 50% male and 50% female.
One of the findings was that 80% of respondents utilized AI to search for information and summarize answers.
Many also used AI for communication purposes, assisting with work or tasks, and entertainment, with proportions each above 50%.
