GoFood, Indonesia's Favorite Online Food Delivery Service Across Generations, March 2025

According to a Jakpat survey, GoFood was the most widely used online food delivery app in Indonesia in March 2025.

GoFood's overall preference rate reached 38%. When broken down by generation, Gen X contributed the highest percentage at 43%, while Gen Z and Millennials each accounted for 37%.

Next was ShopeeFood, at 29%. Gen Z used this service the most, at 39%, followed by Millennials at 23% and Gen X at 12%.

Then there's GrabFood, chosen by 27% of respondents. Gen X was recorded as the largest user of this service, at 39%, followed by Millennials at 34% and Gen Z at 18%.

Official restaurant apps were only chosen by 4% of respondents. Millennials were the largest users at 5%, followed by Gen Z and Gen X at 3% each.

"Millennials and Gen X prefer to use GoFood, while ShopeeFood is the favorite food delivery platform for Gen Z," Jakpat concluded in its report, as quoted on Monday (July 28, 2025).

Although still in second place, the number of ShopeeFood users decreased by 11% compared to the previous Jakpat survey in 2022.

The survey, included in the Consumer Behavior in Online Food Delivery report, involved 1,343 respondents in Indonesia. They were spread across Jabodetabek; the island of Java, including West Java (excluding Bodetabek), Banten (excluding Tangerang City, Tangerang Regency, and South Tangerang City), Central Java, East Java, and Yogyakarta; and outside Java: Bali, Medan, Padang, Palembang, Pekanbaru, Bandar Lampung, Samarinda, Balikpapan, Manado, Makassar, and Jayapura.

Respondents consisted of 52% male and 48% female. By generation, Gen X (45-49 years old) accounted for 12%; Millennials (29-44 years old) 46%; and Gen Z (15-28 years old) 42%. All respondents were adjusted to reflect the proportion of internet users in Indonesia.

The survey was conducted online on March 13-14, 2025, through the Jakpat mobile app. The margin of error is below 5%.
