iPhone 16 Not Yet Authorized for Sale in Indonesia
According to *Katadata*, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated that the government has not yet granted permission for the sale of Apple's latest product, the iPhone 16, in Indonesia.
Agus explained that the reason for not granting permission is that Apple has not fulfilled its commitment to invest in Indonesia.
"We at the Ministry of Industry cannot yet issue a distribution permit for the iPhone 16 because, as I have previously stated, there are still outstanding commitments that have not been fulfilled by Apple," Agus said on Tuesday (October 22, 2024).
Agus warned that any iPhone 16 products circulating in the Indonesian market would be considered illegal, urging the public to report them to the Ministry of Industry. This is because the Ministry of Industry has not issued International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers for these products.
"Let me be clear, it's illegal. Report it to us," he said.
