Education Level Determines Internet Penetration Among the Public

The higher the level of education in society, the higher the internet penetration rate. This is reflected in the survey results of the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), which show that internet penetration among people with a Master's (S2) or Doctoral (S3) degree reaches 88.24%. This figure surpasses internet penetration rates of other education levels.

For respondents with a Bachelor's degree (S1), the rate is 79.23%; for high school graduates and equivalent, 70.54%; for primary school graduates, 25.1%; and for those with no formal education, 5.45%. This trend shows that the internet has penetrated all levels of society, including those who have not attended school.

For information, the number of internet users in 2017 reached 143.26 million, meaning penetration reached 54.68% of Indonesia's total population of 262 million. Meanwhile, based on gender, 51.43% of internet users are male, and the remainder are female.
