Indonesia's Digital Video Viewers Predicted to Reach 100 Million in 2021

The number of viewers/downloaders of digital videos in Indonesia in 2017 reached 68 million people. According to eMarketer projections, this figure is expected to continue increasing to over 100 million people by 2021. A population of 265 million, with over 150 million connected to the Internet, represents enormous potential for the growth of online media (digital video service providers) in Indonesia.

In 2018, the number of digital video viewers in Indonesia is estimated to have reached 77.3 million, surpassing Japan (71.6 million) and Australia (14.1 million). However, compared to India, Indonesia still lags significantly, as shown in the graph below.

In 2018, approximately 2.38 billion people worldwide were expected to stream or download digital video content via various devices at least once a month. Smartphones are the most commonly used device for watching internet-based video content.
