Jakarta Building Permits Issued in 2014 Show Sharp Decline

Building Permits (IMB) issued in DKI Jakarta in 2014 totaled only 3,732, a 301% decrease from the previous year's 14,969. Similarly, the number of buildings constructed throughout 2014 also decreased by 354% to 2,908 from 13,195 in the previous year. However, the total area of buildings constructed in 2014 actually increased by 50% to 10.77 million square meters from 5.37 million square meters the previous year.

Since August 2015, processing building permits for residential buildings in Jakarta can be completed within one day through the Integrated One-Stop Service Agency (BPTSP). Previously, processing a building permit was a lengthy and complicated process. Furthermore, significant costs were involved. Now, processing a building permit takes only one day if all requirements are met, and it is free of charge.
