Even with WFH, People Remain Interested in Buying Homes Near City Centers

Surveys by Inventure and Alvara show that most respondents remain interested in buying property near city centers. This means that this preference has not been affected by the work-from-home (WFH) policy implemented over the past 1.5 years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

If WFH were to become permanent, only 45.9% of respondents would be uninterested in buying a house near the city center. This percentage is lower than the 54.1% of respondents who would still want to buy a house near the city center.

Only 43.8% of respondents are uninterested in buying a house near public transportation. Conversely, 56.2% of respondents indicated the opposite.

Based on these survey results, easy access and complete public facilities remain the primary considerations for people when buying houses and other properties. This consideration has not changed amidst the corona pandemic and the implementation of WFH.

Inventure and Alvara conducted this survey among 532 respondents in Jabodetabek, Surabaya, Bandung, Semarang, Medan, Makassar, and Balikpapan. The survey was conducted from June 8-18, 2021.
